New BMW Mega Scooters on Their Way

At least one European press report indicates BMW is developing new large displacement scooters, including a 500cc model, 650cc model and 800cc model.
We have been talking about hybrid machines that bridge the gap between scooters and motorcycles at least since the 2003 Tokyo Motor Show displayed several concepts.
It appears BMW may be joining a growing trend and utilize large diameter wheels (similar to those found on a motorcycle) with an automatic transmission and scooter-like ergonomics and storage capacity. With the 800cc version expected to exceed 70 horsepower, you can anticipate acceleration and braking performance very similar to today's mid-displacement motorcycles from these new "scooters".
