With its first liquid cooled cruiser engine powering the V-Rod for several years, now, Harley is rumored to be working on large displacement, liquid cooled v-twins for future touring models. Rumored displacements? 2000cc and 2450cc!
Large displacement, liquid cooled v-twins make sense for a couple of reasons. The cruiser competition is going big bore (witness Kawasaki's Vulcan 2000, for instance), and ever-tightening emission standards make fuel injected, liquid cooled engines attractive, even for a company like Harley-Davidson that has largely tied its heritage to air cooled, push-rod motors.
