2009 Yamaha FZ6R Announced

Lightweight sportbikes with smooth, low-to-mid power, comfortable ergonomics and an entry-level price have proven popular here in the U.S. In response, Yamaha has developed the new 2009 FZ6R, which features a thoroughly redesigned, earlier generation R6 motor.

Although it shares bore and stroke dimensions with the FZ6, the new FZ6R has a unique cylinder head, crankcase , intake and exhaust system intended to give the motor a new character ideal for commuters and entry-level riders.

The new steel frame uses the engine as a stressed member, and the chassis combines relatively upright ergonomics, with sporty handling capabilities (according to Yamaha). Disc brakes all around (including two rotors in front) provide the stopping. The rider's seat can be adjusted in height by nearly an inch, and the low setting works well for shorter riders and women.

U.S. MSRP begins at $6,990. For additionals details and specifications, visit Yamaha's 2009 model site here.
