Honda Announces New VFR, ST1300 and CBR954RR to European Press (Updated)

by Dirck Edge

In Paris this evening, Honda unveiled several new, 2002 models, including the highly anticipated new VFR, ST1300 (called the Pan European in Europe) and CBR954RR (called the Fireblade in Europe). These are some of the studio photos of the new VFR distributed by Honda to the European press.

The rumored, major increase in displacement for the VFR was false. The bike still displaces only 781cc, but power has been enhanced with Honda's VTEC system -- which varies valve timing to boost both low-end and high-end power. This system has been employed on Honda automobiles for years. The new VFR does feature a factory hard bag option (hurray!), and weighs in at 213 kilograms (469 pounds) dry -- roughly the same weight as the current machine.

We will follow up with more details following the American press introduction next week.
