Honda Europe Introduces 2004 CBR1000RR

By Dirck Edge

Here is a link to Honda's principle European web site, which introduces the all-new 998cc CBR1000RR Fireblade. The new Fireblade (its European name -- expect it to be called simply the CBR1000RR in the U.S.) has some interesting features, including the Honda Electronic Steering Damper developed by HRC (used and tested by the Repsol Honda MotoGP team). A detailed graphic of this interesting steering damper is contained on the same Honda web site.

The CBR1000RR utilizes the Unit Pro-Link rear suspension system found on last year's CBR600RR. The new CBR1000RR also employs the now mandatory-for-the-class radial mounted front brake calipers, which grip 310mm discs.

According to Honda's web site, the 1000RR also has a cassette transmission, allowing easy and quick internal gear changes for racing.

We expect to have more details on the CBR1000RR when we receive our press kit from Honda U.S. tomorrow.
