James Stewart (Kawasaki) won a close fought battle with Ricky Carmichael (Suzuki) in Phoenix this evening to take Round 2 of the AMA Supercross series, along with a points lead in the championship. Finishing third was Chad Reed (Yamaha).
In the Western Region Supercross Lites main event this evening, Christophe Pourcel (Kawasaki) took a somewhat surprising victory over teammate Ryan Villopoto in second, with a third Kawasaki rider, Chris Gosselaar, finishing third. Pourcel and Villopoto are tied for the championship points lead after the first two rounds.
