Now that MotoGP has decided that 1000 cc (okay 990 cc) bikes are too much, and street-bike based superbikes are making more horsepower than MotoGP bikes (or at least comparable horsepower with more torque), why haven't manufacturers returned to the 750 cc (or 800 cc) sportbike class.
Kawasaki was rumored to be working on an 800 cc street bike, but it did not materialize this year. Perhaps, bikes like this are in the pipeline to be released next year, or the year after. Now that the premier class runs 800 cc machines, there is no excuse left not to introduce street bikes of similar capacity. Suzuki has had this category to itself for too long.
