World 125cc motocross champion Alessio “Chicco” Chiodi was injured earlier this week at a
supercross race held in conjunction with the Bologna Motor Show. Riding a Husqvarna 250
during the second night of racing, Chiodi crashed on a large triple jump and broke his right
forearm and vertebra in his lower back. It may be two or three months before he can race again.
After several years riding the world motocross series in Europe, Chiodi plans to race the AMA
Eastern 125cc supercross series and the AMA 125cc outdoor national motocross series in the
United States next year. He will surely miss some of the supercross races, but he should be
healthy for the entire outdoor national series.
