After James Stewart left the Monster Energy AMA Supercross series with an injury, it seemed to be clear sailing (on cruise control) for Yamaha's Chad Reed. That could be changing. In the last couple of races, a few of the other riders have shown the ability to challenge Reed. Notably, Kevin Windham (Honda), who won last weekend, and David Millsaps (Honda). Kawasaki's Tim Ferry is not far off Reed's pace, either.
Has Reed backed off the pace he was running when Stewart was in the field? Probably so. Has he backed off to the point where Windham, Millsaps and Ferry might dice with him for wins each weekend? That remains to be seen.
