Reed (250) and Preston (125) Win Anaheim Supercross

The THQ World Supercross GP Round 3 (and Round 1 of the AMA Supercross series) went down in Anaheim, California this evening. In the 250 class, Yamaha’s Chad Reed dominated the main event, winning by roughly half a lap over second place Ricky Carmichael (Honda), with Yamaha’s Tim Ferry finishing third. Carmichael rode well to finish second after two crashes, and benefitted from a crash involving Travis Pastrana (Suzuki) and Mike LaRocco (Honda). Both LaRocco and Pastrana appeared unhurt.

In the 125 class, last year’s West Coast champion Travis Preston (Honda) rode to a convincing victory ahead of Kawasaki’s James Stewart. Third place went to Andrew Short (Suzuki). Stewart blitzed through the field from seventeenth place to second after getting caught behind a fallen rider on the first lap.

Reed has the championship points lead in the World Supercross GP series, as well as the AMA Supercross series. Preston, of course, is now the leader in the AMA Western Region 125 Supercross series.
