Today marked the beginning of a three-day test session at the Catalunya Circuit in Spain, which will feature all competing teams. With the April 10 season opener at Jerez approaching quickly, this test will be as much about psychological warfare as it is about tire and machine testing, with the top riders trying to psyche each other out by throwing down stunningly fast laps.
Max Biaggi (Honda) topped the first days’ charts, but all the top riders were close on the pace, with first through ninth covered by less than a second. It will be interesting to see if any of the riders can pull out a small margin in the next two days; hopefully none will crash trying for a quicker lap.
