Today’s MotoGP race in Istanbul, Turkey was a showcase for the sport’s young guns – Marco Melandri (Honda), Dani Pedrosa (Honda), and Casey Stoner (Honda) battled for the lead on the dry track, with Nicky Hayden (Honda) close behind.
The win eventually went to Melandri after Pedrosa crashed out of the battle for the lead late in the race. Stoner challenged Melandri to the last, and lost by only .2 seconds, gaining his first-ever podium finish in the process. Pedrosa’s crash gave Hayden the final podium spot, while Pedrosa remounted to finish 14th. Defending champ Valentino Rossi (Yamaha) was fourth.
Nicky Hayden’s third-place finish today gives him the lead in the MotoGP championship points race. For more info, results and points, check out the Official MotoGP website.
