Suzuki/Bridgestone Looking to Break Through at Donington Park Tomorrow

Taking five of the top seven spots, Bridgestone-shod bikes dominated qualifying for tomorrow’s Donington Park MotoGP race. Although Michelin has pole (with Honda’s Dani Pedrosa), Suzuki and its Bridgestone tires look particularly strong — with Chris Vermeulen qualifying second and John Hopkins fourth.

Suzuki has made slow, sometimes painful progress forward since the switch to four-strokes several years ago. The Suzuki bikes are finally on a competitive level with the best in the paddock. Could we see Suzuki take one or two podiums tomorrow? It may come down to the race tires.

With extremely high temperatures expected at Donington tomorrow, finding a tire that will grip well during the second half of the race could make all of the difference. This is where Michelin may still have the upper hand, but we will see tomorrow.
