Ben Spies (Suzuki) won the Superbike race today at Miller Motorsports Park, but it was his teammate Mat Mladin who made the biggest impression. Mladin crashed early in the race, and appeared to be unable to continue. Nevertheless, his team frantically repaired his bike, and Mladin started after the red flag from the very back of the grid. Mladin charged through traffic to ultimately battle for a podium spot. In the end, he was beaten to the line by Honda’s Miguel Duhammel. Honda’s Jake Zemke took the other podium spot (second place) ahead of the Duhammel/Mladin battle over third.
Spies stretches his lead in the title chase over Mladin. For additional details, results and points, visit the AMA Superbike site here.
