Houston Supercross Results

The Monster Energy AMA Supercross series visited Houston last evening.  Following a pile-up in the first corner, several of the favorites had to pick themselves off the ground, including series points leader James Stewart (Yamaha) and former champ Chad Reed (Honda).  In the end, Trey Canard (Honda) took his first Supercross class win after holding off a hard charging Ryan Dungey (Suzuki), who finished second.  Ryan Villopoto (Kawasaki) narrowly avoided the first turn crash and was forced off the track.  Nevertheless, Villopoto charged through the pack to finish third.  Villopoto regains the championship series points lead due to a poor result for Stewart, who finished in 15th position.

The opening round of the East Coast Lites series saw Justin Barcia (Honda) take the win ahead to second place Dean Wilson (Kawasaki) and third place Blake Baggett (Kawasaki).

If we all look back through the years there has always been “that guy”. Do you remember how RC rode when he came up? His feet were never on the pegs! Truth is they are all threading the needle out there. THats why we love the sport! Bubba has settled down a little this year. Next year he will be alot more solid.

SO we should blame the guy that came up short on the jump!!!???. After his bad start, all eyes were were on Stewart because from his past performances we all knew what was coming next. Isn’t that part of the reason we watch? It WAS a great race and I am glad Stewart was in it. I am also glad he ended 15th.

There is’nt any blame there’s just racing. Personally I don’t watch races to see crashes. I watch to see outstanding bike handling like the incredible battle that transpired between Dungey and Canard. If you like watching crashes try NASCAR they’ve always got plenty.

  3. Brian says:

Stewart landing on JT was simply another racing incident. The reason Stewart has all these racing incidents is because he views other riders as bowling pins. The AMA needs to come up with a new flag to notify other riders that Stewart is coming through the pack and to get out of the way or risk getting mowed over…

If you have the courage of your convictions then I strenuously urge you to stop wasting your time writing on internet blogs and start vigorously imploring the FIM and AMA to have Stewart banned from the sport.

I watched the start in slo-mo a few times. Stewart did get loose when he came off the line, but so did another rider two places to the right of Stewart. This sandwiched two middle riders together, which pushed James back toward the inside (his left). As he approached the first turn, he rode up on the tuff-blocks which caused him to torpedo straight through the the pack as they tried to round the first turn. Stewart’s second crash wasn’t really his fault, except that he was following, and ran into, a slower rider who came up short on a jump.

  5. Dave says:

James was all over the place on the start. every time he has to come through the pack he is dangerous.

  6. John A. Kuzmenko says:

I didn’t get the impression that Stewart caused the first turn pile-up, either.

He landed on the other guy over the jumps because the guy he was following came up short on a jump and suddenly slowed down while Stewart was still in the air.
If anything, Stewart is probably wishing he wasn’t following the other guy’s line at that moment, in hindsight.

    Bring on next weekend. 🙂

  7. Harry Farquhar says:

Neither incident was caused by or had anything to with James or his actions on the track. Characterizing him as dangerous is completely baseless. It does however indicate that there may be some other reason for these type of comments.

  8. Stanski68 says:

Stewart is very dangerous, he caused the pileup on the first turn and then he landed on a guy when he was trying to catch up! Makes for a great race, unless you get landed on or taken out by James Stewart!

  9. Bob says:

Yes he is dangerous. Sure he’s the fastest guy. But he’s also the most wreckless. Good thing he’s out front most of the time or he’d likely injure everyone else for the rest of the season. Reed is dangerous too, but he’s deliberate about it.

  10. BB says:

I take it Stewart pushed and took out the pack? Sounds like it, need to hunt down the race on SPEED. “Before he gets killed to death” lol your kill’n me Weez!or worse!

  11. TheWeez says:

Stewart has been, and continues to be dangerous on the race track. He needs to retire before he gets killed to death.
