I could sum up your post pretty well with: I don't like Spies and if I hope hard enough he won't win a championship. Setting you opinion above everyone elses is ridiculous.

What are you talking about?? "Past performance is not a predictor of future performance" When you toss a coin, or when you play the lottery it true, but put the human factor in and "Past performance IS A GOOD (not perfect) predictor of future performance.

Replace "sophomoric" with kindergarten cliche.

See "the Crew Chief ate Spies' homework" excuse posted by another Spies sycophant.

Wait, what? People aren't allowed to make predictions? Or is it that people aren't allowed to make incorrect predictions? Get over yourself.

Spies will win a MotoGP championship. There, I said it too.

It's much easier to criticize others for who they think will win than to make your own choices. Even easier is to go with past champions.

Multiple repetitive posts excusing Spies' for sub-par performance:

Highlights, underscores, and reminds readers of Spies' sub-par performance
Highlights, underscores, and reminds readers that fans would rather justify their sub-par predictive skills than admit they were wrong.

Enough already. Consider maybe stopping the sophomoric antics.

The most accurate prediction is Spies, same as the largest majority of racers, will never win a Premier Class championship. As is posted on every Wall Street Annual Report and investment prospectus, "Past performance is not a predictor of future performance".

Biaggi won four 250cc World Championships then failed out of the Premier Class after several attempts. Spies never experienced this level of competition. Make any number of excuses you desire, Spies has so far failed to deliver. "The dog ate my homework" ended about 15 years ago for someone Spies' age.

Suppose the tool episode story is accurate: is Spies above giving his two-wheeled ride on which he intends to shortly travel 200+mph a quick once-over? From the above story, the tool was visible from the cockpit, which indicates he could have seen it before he pulled in the clutch. Blame the crew chief if you so desire, your prerogative. Certainly it's possible that in past races, other pilots (maybe even World Champions) noticed attached tools and promptly discarded them before pulling in the clutch. It's called a race team.

http://www.motorcycledaily.com/2011/03/stoner-could-cruise-to-the-title/

I don't know why otherwise intelligent people always need to be reminded that testing is only testing, and that Stoner's Qatar win was guarantee of nothing. Stoner will bounce back and win more races this season, of course, but the idea that he was going to cruise to the title was ridiculous on its face.

Unfortunately, we'll have to wait til next year when they switch to 1000cc's for Spies to bring back the championship to the U.S. We've seen what he can do on a 1000cc Superbike (WSBK champion, multiple AMA championships), that size seems to fit him best. I felt bad for GOAT Rossi, to get beat at the finish line by Dovi on a bike that has more speed than his Ducati, but it was his choice to switch. Now he has to suffer the consequences of his decision. A message to Lorenzo and Stoner: Please, please, please don't let Pedrosa/Puig win the championship. I'd prefer Stoner but just about anyone would be better than Pedrosa. Well, except for Abraham, who has not earned the right to be there.

I'm starting to question if Tom Houseworth really belongs up there with the elite crew chiefs in MotoGP. Who leaves tools attached to their bikes before a world championship race? I know Houseworth probably didn't do it personally but he runs the ship so he needs to be held accountable. I hope those guys can get it together! Nice race for Colin Edwards, BTW.

I don't like Pedrosa either but I'm glad he beat Lorenzo. Stoner would have been there if he had a better start. I like Simoncelli too.... Spies has some bike issues. Rossi & Hayden are on the Ducs.... Hopefully they will be able to contend a bit this year but next year it's new bikes for all.
