Yeah, I could see that. I bet the Ninja 500R would put up a fight against the TMax though, the battle would be really, really close :D

Was only being a silly troll, nothing more. I have no beef with the TMax, I was only being nitpicky about comparing a sporty scooter to the large-displacement V-twin cruisers, that's all. No real parameters to compare the TMax to a ZRX, Ninja, Warrior, what have you, just a little underwhelmed at beating the large-displacement cruise, which my bone stock 2004 Mach 1 can do, until you get into the more powerful liquid-cooled cruisers.

All that drivel aside, I be a turbo could make that TMax a real hoot! Probably even embarrass me on my ZRX at a stoplight.

Like I said, I was just being a troll, that's all, no offense or insult intended ;)

In all honesty the TMax sounds like a lot of fun to ride, something I'd probably not think twice about really. I've known riders of traditional cruisers made by the Big 4 that were blown away by the large-displacement scooters (i.e. the scooters larger than 250cc).

Anywho, thanks for your insight, and I appreciate the thoughts on the matter. While I won't pick one to race a 600cc sportbike anytime soon, it'd make a good commuting machine, the TMax has the right hardware to make it so :D

What is the point in comparing an open class street bike to a scooter? The only parameters that you have there that means anything to a potential customer of the T-max is fuel mileage and under seat storage.

Agree about the instrument cluster, I like my LCD tach and chrome rings and nice big fuel gauge on my '09. I've not had the much mentioned fuel pump issue but apparently it's just a matter of time? I guess I'll check in with my service guy and see what he knows.

I imagine it won't be too long before someone does a thorough comparison between the new BMW's and the TMAX. I'm curious as well.n

Hey Donnie,
You are right, I should clarify the V-twins in questions are domestic and I hold a soft spot for the Warrior, Raider and Team Y. I would be crazy to run on the top end with your Rex's they are great bikes too. The only Kaw commuter I have rode with is that new 650 EN street fighter kind of bike, and that really never stayed with me, at least till I got close to 100, I start run out of breath around there. I just know for a 500 that thing rocks, I spend alot of time on 400 Majesty's, 600 Silver Wing's and 650 Burgman's, and I just like the way the TMAX moves out, lays into corners, (with the steel backbone/underslung engine frames like the Honda and Suz have, when you push it into 70-90 mph sweepers those bikes feels like they wallow around. Where as the TMAX has a Alum perimeter frame like your sportbike and doesnt flex or feel nervous) It also has big dual disc brakes up front and sport bike rubber, so you can ride in deep and not feel uncomfortable with your deceisions. The other thing I like is that I can ride in the wet without alot of rain gear, and not have to upshift, downshift, upshift, in traffic, dont' have the classic helmet bump when my wife rides on the back. Donnie, I'm just kinda sold on the maxi performance/sport scooter thing as you could tell, If you ever get a chance to ride on a TMAX take it, I've let a lot of people ride mine and they come back with a new out look on scooters. Boy it just sounds like I'm getting old... Ride Safe...

Te Tmax and the new BMW C 600/650 will set the trend for the coming years: Maxi scooters with 1 or 2 cylinders ranging from 350 to 650 cc, loaded with high-tech features and ready to take on daily commute as well as long road trips. It will be interesting to see between the Yamaha and the BMW, which comes out on top.
