Australia based JDR Motorsports, sponsored by KTM has just released its Dream Ride video featuring the use of camera equipment normally found only in Hollywood feature films, including state-of-the-art slow motion. JDR riders Josh Cachia and Malcolm Stewart play in the Northern rainforest of Australia with the help of a helicopter video platform. If your computer has the ability to play it in HD (1080p or 720p), you will be blown away.
My HD IPS monitor was happy to show off some amazing video quality. The water shot just about transfixed me into an hallucinogenic state.

Regardless of the jumps, etc, the photography was pretty amazing. At some points it was almost 3D.

A couple of notes to the cynics:
- I think the point is production value. The stunts have been done before, but I’ve never seen some of the perspectives before … such as shots from a hovering helicopter … and the lighting and backdrop were fantastic. Simply a superb production.
- You are slamming the music? Really? Then you prefer either heavy metal or rap? Wow … just, wow. Both of those music types make me wanna puke in my Jofa.

There are only 2 kinds of music, good and bad. That was bad. If you read my previous comment, you’d notice I also slammed those that play metal. Yes, the rap ones ain’t that great either. Point is, it’s not that people can’t take techno/electronics, it’s just that we don’t tolerate cheese!! Besides, even if they wanted to play that type of track, they could have at least toned it down and let the noise from the bikes and helicopter take precedence.
I get what you’re saying about production values, but that’s no excuse for less than spectacular riding. You get a ton of Hollywood movies made with budgets that could feed entire towns in impoverished nations, and yet they have no plot whatsoever!! Many of us clicked on the link expecting to be blown away, but that wasn’t the case at all. Yes. And now I am going to put my laptop in the Kawasaki Versys and slog through traffic in Northern Virginia. Did I mention that the temperature outside is 38 degrees at the moment? No matter, it will warm up to the fifties later on today. Good thing I have my electric vest. Damn you Motorcycle Daily.

Superb production values combined with amazing video F/X make for an absolutely stunning presentation. It was a little disappointing that the riders, while extremely talented, basically did the same very popular trick over and over again.

As a early 70′s motocrosser, I remember when a “cross up” was daring. The things guys do on dirt bikes these days is just phenominally nuts. Wonderful photography.
