KTM/HMC Superbike Team Race Report – Road Atlanta Superbike

Braselton, GA – KTM/HMC Superbike Team rider Chris Fillmore earned his career best finish at the second round of the AMA Pro Superbike Series with a 6th place result at the Road Atlanta race course.

Fillmore qualified 12th fastest which placed him on the 3rd row for the start of the race. He got a good jump off the line and was quickly into 10th position. Within a few laps he had closed on Steve Rapp and Chris Clark and was able to make the pass on Clark for 9th after the halfway mark.

With seven laps remaining, Blake Young suffered a crash which caused the race to be red flagged. The riders returned to staging and the AMA determined that the riders would be given 7 laps to finish the race on the restart.

Fillmore had a great restart and moved up to 7th place trailing Steve Rapp and Geoff May. The three battled for the remaining laps with Fillmore putting heavy pressure on both of them. On the last lap in the final corner Fillmore was able to pass Rapp to take over 6th position and earn his career best finish in the AMA Pro Superbike Series.

“It feels great to come out here today and get my best finish,” remarked Fillmore. Mitch and the whole KTM/HMC Superbike Racing Team have done so much work to get my bike dialed in for this race and it has paid off. I have so much respect for the entire team and can’t thank them enough. I am really happy with my finish today and hope to continue to make improvements.”
