MV Agusta released this sketch of its Rivale model that will be introduced in the flesh at EICMA in Milan when it opens to the public on November 15. The Rivale will be powered by an 800cc version of the existing 675cc triple featured on other MV models, courtesy of an increased bore. We will report further details when they are announced at EICMA.

The license plate location sucks, but that is easily remedied. It has very fresh styling but will not be a big seller here because of the price and dealer support. Also, from the info that I have received talking to ACTUAL MV riders, these machines have a lot of bugs that need to be worked out before they are reliable machines. If they can keep the price at a reasonable level (not much money around these days) they will sell a few here in the states. I hope that they do as it’s an interesting bike.

yeah, it’s hard to tell from the sketch, but i’m guessing this is meant to be the equivalent of ducati’s hypermotard, aprilia dorsoduro, husqvarna nuda, etc.

PS: if this is in fact the name…? i think i would’ve liked the name “Rafale” better (it’s sooo close)… ya know… as in Dassault France’s latest delta-wing.

What’s wrong with the muffler appearance? And how did anyone come up with a 57″ weight for it?

Very “cartoon-like” styling, if that’s your thing. No attraction for me, whatsoever, none.
Did I mention the styling sucks?

I don’t care about the weight, just look at all the over priced harleys, who cares? I want one of these MVs now!!

As ever, the MD posters and their obsession with weight. Why?
is ‘america’s next top model’ their program of choice?

It’s mostly that muffler. Besides being the ugliest silencer of all time, it weighs 57 lbs. That’s unacceptable for a bike in this price category. And it still needs conchos.
No, it’s because weight is the enemy of performance AND handling.

… and affordability. Not that this is of concern to premium Italian sport bike buyers.
FWIW, there is no claimed weight in the text and the only weight comments are clearly facetious.

A lot of criticism to this ‘sketch’, including some Diavel comparisons (really?! not even kinda). I wont go there until a real bike is shown, but an 800cc naked seems redundant with 675cc and 1090cc inline-4 models flanking it. Although there’s clearly a supermoto bent with the hand guards and long-travel suspension…
“Diavel much” Ha!

Ick.

It weighs too much. The styling is already dated. It doesn’t have enough horsepower. It costs too much. The styling is too ‘edgy’ and futuristic. Needs conchos.

Looks cool, but what I really want is an MV Retro standard!

The location of the rear indicators won’t make it in the EU, or maybe MV has the same ‘status aparte’ as Ferrari

now all it needs is a beak and it’ll fit in a whole other category.

Holy sh*t!

This is a very cool bike in my opinion, and assuming minimal weight, it’d be a lot more engaging to ride than a Diavel; more like a Tuono. The styling would attract a lot of attention if that’s your thing.
I could get used to that.

Very stylish without a preponderance of plastic. Nicely done.

Diavel much?

Totally agree. It’s almost like MV traced the Daivel with that “see-through” paper from 5th grade art class.

MV,you can go ahead and announce an Brutale 800 triple now too. You know you have to build it.
