I think all the spectators already knew from the start that the single tire rule was going to hurt teams more than help them. 2 reasons.

1st, money. Since everyone is on the same tire, the teams no longer get free tires as part of a sponsorship deal for using their brand. So now the teams have to pay for their own tires.

2nd, the custom advantage. Tailor made tires to suit a bike's geometry and weight distribution. No explanation needed. We all know why. Plus this is how it is in the real world. When you buy a new bike, the manufacturer, wether Honda, Yamaha, Ducati or KTM... they all spec a tire specially made for a particular bike. Sure it may be a BT003 or Q2 but there is a difference between OEM with the bike and off the rack from a tire warehouse. Why shouldn't the GP teams be allowed to do the same for their race bikes? It certainly isn't to control cost. See the 1st reason above.

Truthfully, the teams need to be able to build using tech as they see fit. If I were a manufacturer, I wouldn't be interested in entering a series if I had to use spec parts and electronics. I'd rather use alternate and proprietary forms of suspension, electronics, bore/stroke and fuel injection style if I thought it would be best. I'm also for continuously variable intakes and exhausts and compression ratios. This suits a manufacturer's end game as a provider of goods. If consumer items can't benefit from this tech bred on the race track, then why bother competing?

I would like to hear what he thinks can be done to make MotoGP more competitive, not that he wants it to be. Building on what he said, at least Dorna needs to make the rules well in advance and not change them. No other constructor has Honda's ability to change midseason as Ducati learned last year.

I agree with Mark. Very honest, straight forward insightful interview. Not a mention of Val being a threat next year on the Yamaha, but several complimentary mentions of Jorge. Guess Honda really is pissed at Val. For the record I don't think Val will be much of a factor either, still I'm surprised there was no mention.

I think he explains a lot about why the CRTs are so uncompetitive, and one I personally had not thought of. New perspective for me.
