Team Suzuki Press Office – October 22.

Team SUZUKI ECSTAR are in Malaysia this weekend for the penultimate round of the 2015 MotoGP™ World Championship and the last race in the Asia-Pacific fly-away rounds before getting back to Europe.

Coming from Australia, the mood of both riders slightly different: Aleix Espargarò is not so happy with his race at Phillip Island while Maverick Viñales is enthusiastic with the positive improvements he enjoyed there, as well as his sixth place in the race.

The Malaysian round at Sepang International Circuit will be tough on everyone because of the high temperatures and humidity that are typical of the area, and which are very demanding for the riders. With four slow corners following two long straights and 10 medium to high-speed corners, the wide track is particularly favourable to overtaking manoeuvres, but will also put a lot of stress on the engines. Its 5.5 km (3.44 miles) length makes it one of the longest laps in MotoGP™ with a main straight measuring 920 metres or 3018.37 ft.

Aleix Espargaro:

“I’m not happy with how the race ended in Australia, but for sure we can be proud of the improvements we have made. I want us to get back some confidence and fix some of the problems we had with the feeling with the front-end of the bike. This gives me good hope for Malaysia, even if the circuit will be very tough for us: the track has some very fast corners where we can be competitive with our chassis, but the straight is very long and you have to stay on full throttle a long time, so the engine’s performance will be very important. It will be the last race out East and then we will be back in Europe; we have been racing for two consecutive weeks and this has helped us to stay focused and concentrated.”

Maverick Viñales:

“The race in Malaysia will not be easy for us as the circuit is more suitable for machines with more powerful engines. However, we will take advantage of our handling and speed through fast corners, trying to exploit at its best what package we have. The last weekend in Australia proved that we still have a competitive package, it is important to keep calm and be aware of our weaknesses, but also of our strengths and work at our best to get the most out of each race. I feel very positive after the good race in Phillip Island and the three races in a row are helping me and my crew to stay focused towards the end of the season.”
