Aragón WSB Results (Both Race 1 and Race 2)

Aragón Race 2 podium

The big news from the Aragón round of the WSB championship is that Jonathan Rea’s perfect record this year finally came to an end, but not before he took the win in Race 1.

Rea (Kawasaki) battled closely with Ducati’s Chaz Davies all weekend, but Davies crashed out of Race 1 while fighting for the lead with less than two laps remaining. This left Rea with the win ahead of Ducati’s Marco Melandri in second and Tom Sykes (Kawasaki) in third.

In Race 2, Davies kept it on two wheels and crossed the finish line just ahead of second place Rea with Melandri third.

Rea stretches his already sizable points lead in the championship. Follow these links for Race 1 Results and Race 2 Results.

And once again, the Musical Grid in Race 2 proves absolutely pointless, other than allowing Alex Lowes to lead a couple of laps that he otherwise wouldn’t.

    Stupid rule, predictable result.

I guess you’re right but it doesn’t bode well for the near future of WSBK. It’s boring. WSS on the other hand is exciting again now that Sofuoglu isn’t winning.

Looks like a 2 horse show, mainly 1 horse, but sometimes 2 horse.

…125 pts has already put paid to the 2017 season, while in some locations there’s still snow on the ground.

Davies & Rea definitely went at it both races. In the 1st race on the penultimate lap while Davies was in the lead he suddenly went down in a corner. It looked to me his front wheel might have locked up. He slid quite a ways with his right leg under his bike! Glad that didn’t stop him from racing in the 2nd race Sunday.

In race 2 both riders were at it again and with 4 laps remaining Rea made a move to take over the lead. Then the 2 really got aggressive of each other’s position and it became obvious Rea didn’t want to lose winning this race. On the last lap and 2nd curve from the end of the lap, Rea made a very aggressive pass on Davies in a tight curve and I thought both riders might collide and go down! But somehow Davies was able to not clip Rea and passed him back, thusly winning the race. Both races definitely were worth watching.

So while it used to be a three-rider battle for the championship between Rea, Sykes, and Davies, now it’s clearly down to Rea and Davies. Melandri and Sykes are the third-step-on-the-podium fillers.

I’m really hoping Vinales doesn’t pull a WSB Rea in MotoGP this season.

Don’t think there is much chance of that happening.

no promises. Ezpelata says now that Jay will be back on one for the foreseeable future, the fires of a new “all Spanish rivalry” must be STOKED.

look, these heli-pad equipped multi meter yachts aren’t going to pay for themselves…?
