Misano MotoGP Results

Marc Marquez (Honda) won a wet race at Misano earlier today when he passed Danilo Petrucci (Ducati) with less than two laps remaining. Petrucci finished second ahead of third place Andrea Dovizioso (Ducati). Marquez moves into a tie with Dovizioso for the championship points lead heading into the Aragon track in two weeks.

You don’t have to cheer for him and you don’t have to buy his merchandise etc., but Marquez gave a great performance. On his rise to greatness, does MM deserve some razzing along the way, maybe , maybe not, not my call, but seems to me that when he stepped up on the podium on Sunday, he only deserved applause.

What a great race, I surely thought MM would stay put and collect the points for second place. It looked pretty risky to go for the win. I should have known better! Watching Zarco push his bike over the finish line was fantastic, my hat’s off to him for not giving up. Hat’s off to Petrucci as well, rode a fine race, held off Marquez for just about the whole race. Anybody know if Zarco ran out of gas, or had a mechanical problem?

re: “Marquez moves into a tie with Dovizioso for the championship points lead heading into the Aragon track”

“don’t call it comeback, he’s been here for years…” (that rapper guy voice, what’s his name?)

Marquez… The best part about the guy as that when his competitors manage to beat him, he’s thrilled for them. But, as Dovi said, “The worst nightmare is to be leading in the last laps with Marquez on your tail.” It’s a privilege to watch all these guys… This is truly the golden era of motorcycle racing

KTM finished 10th and 11th despite wet conditions.

Correction: “KTM finished 10th and 11th thanks to the wet conditions.”

A wet track has always been the Great Equalizer.

Too bad Rossi couldn’t participate. He rides well in the wet conditions.

  7. Jeremy in TX says:

Gutsy by Marquez to go for it on that last lap, but then that is how the guy rolls. Poor Pedrosa… He got passed by guys who crashed.

    • mickey says:

lol… he does have his troubles when he can’t get some heat in his tires, but that was ridiculous. Out of the points chase now, not that he was ever really in it.

      • Jeremy in TX says:

Yeh, I believe his seat will finally be open when his contract expires. He has done a great job over the years keeping points away from Honda competitors. Marquez has been on his own for the past several years though. Someone at that level on that particular kit should be a title threat every year even if he isn’t the number one rider for the team.

        • mickey says:

Unfortunately agree. Been a storied career for the little fellow though.

        • P Harris says:

Apart from being the 4th best racer at any given time, he’s the only guy who can make MM look tall. He’ll be around for a while.

re: “I believe his seat will finally be open when his contract expires.”

a gambling man could win BIG on that bet… 🙂

of course he’d more likely just lose EVERYTHING he’s worked for, his savings, home, wife, etc.

First of all, what a great ride by Petrucci. Now you must ask yourself, why do we watch sports? Easy answer, it is for our entertainment. No other rider, bar none, is more entertaining to watch then Marc Marquez. Your average MotoGp rider would have settled for second place in todays race and conditions. This would have been one boring race to endure if Marquez didn’t go for the win.
Instead we were treated to a real nail biter of a race. Hence why he is the current champ and points leader. Fellow riders and race fans we are witnessing something real special here with #93.

  9. mickey says:

Boy those Spaniards on their Japanese bikes sure know how to ruin the party in Italy eh? Saturday Vinales on the Yam sniping Dovi for pole, and then Marquez on a Honda sniping Petruuci for the GP win on Sunday.

Still a good day for the Ducati team.

  10. Repsol1 says:

    Now that’s perspective!

  11. dt 175 says:

crutchlow and Abraham crash and still finish (ducati) baz crashes TWICE and finishes zarco pushes how far for ONE point? for those of us less gifted than marquez or valentino, THESE are the types of heroes we should strive to emulate…

  12. DucDynasty says:

    Well, that was fun.
