Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki Eyes Double Podium in Anaheim

CORONA, Calif. (January 17, 2018) – Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki teammates Adam Cianciarulo and Joey Savatgy enter the third round of the Monster Energy Supercross series at Angel Stadium in Anaheim, California with one podium a piece. Savatgy carries momentum from his second-place finish last weekend in Houston, while Cianciarulo returns to the site of his first podium of the season in Anaheim. With two of 10 rounds complete, Savatgy is just seven points back of the championship leader and Cianciarulo is 12 points.

Savatgy proved on Saturday night that he is capable of adapting to a grueling track and he’ll take that confidence into the third round. He hopes that confidence and momentum he’s built up will be enough for his first win of the season aboard the Kawasaki KX250F.

“Houston was a building race for my confidence,” said Savatgy. “That track was brutal and being able to ride smart and play to my ability helped me get that second place. I was missing a good start at the first Anaheim race so I would love to repeat my holeshot from Houston to help out my chances at a win this weekend.”

Cianciarulo’s Houston result wasn’t indicative of the speed he possessed as the fastest rider in qualifying and winner of his heat race. Two small mistakes in the Main Event pushed him back, igniting a fire to be back on the podium this weekend – the location of his first 2018 podium two weeks ago.

“I made some mistakes that cost me on Saturday, but I can’t dwell on them and have to move my focus to this weekend,” said Cianciarulo. “I know I’ve been riding well and will keep my head up. There is a lot of racing left in this season with our coast being 10 rounds, so I’m hoping to prove myself this weekend.”

Prior to Saturday’s race, the Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki riders will be signing autographs on Friday, January 19 from 6 – 7 p.m. at Del Amo Motorsports of Orange County in Santa Ana, California.

Saturday’s race from Angel Stadium will be broadcast live on FS1 or the FOX Sports GO app starting at 10 p.m. ET.
