Bayliss Should Have No Excuses At Assen

Bayliss Should Have No Excuses At Assen

By Dirck Edge

This weekend's round of the MotoGP championship series occurs at the Assen track, a track common to both MotoGP and World Superbike. It is therefore a track Troy Bayliss is very familiar with. Bayliss has experienced success and failure at Assen, winning a double victory there one year, and crashing out last year (a critically important crash, which led to his defeat in the World Superbike championship). Nevertheless, Bayliss knows his way around Assen very well, unlike most of the other MotoGP circuits he visited earlier this year, and he likes the track.

With Ducati winning the previous round of the MotoGP series (with teammate Loris Capirossi aboard), Ducati will be looking for good results again this weekend and, particularly, from Bayliss with his familiarity with the circuit. Let's see what a former World Superbike champion, on a competitive bike, on a familiar circuit, can do against Rossi and company. It should be interesting to watch.
