The opening round of the AMA double-header in Utah today was won by Suzuki's Ben Spies over teammate Mat Mladin in second place. Rounding out the podium was Honda's Jake Zemke.
With points earned for gaining pole position earlier in the day, Spies stretches his championship series lead over Mladin to eight points.
