Suzuki's reigning AMA 250 Outdoor Motocross Champion, Greg Albertyn, has announced that he will be retiring at the end of this season due to a knee injury suffered earlier this year. Albertyn, who is also a three-time World Motocross Champion, will be sorely missed by fans and members of the press. He is certainly one of the most, if not the most, friendly and professional riders on the AMA Supercross/Motocross circuit.
Albertyn, who won World titles three years in a row (1992-1994) struggled for years racing in the United States before earning his first AMA Championship in 1999. We didn't realize his knee injury was as bad as it apparently is, and we are very sorry to see Greg retire from the sport. We at MD wish him the best in his retirement (along with his new, beautiful wife), and hope he stays involved in racing at some level.
