Assen MotoGP Results

By Dirck Edge

Despite starting from the 11th position on the grid due to a poor qualifying performance, Yamaha's Valentino Rossi stormed to victory today in the Assen MotoGP race. In the process of working his way to the front, Rossi had to overtake this year's points leader, Casey Stoner (Ducati). Unlike in past races this year, Rossi was able to not only overtake Stoner, but lead him across the finish line by nearly two seconds. Finishing third today was defending champion, Nicky Hayden (Honda) in easily his best performance this year.

Stoner continues to lead the championship series points. For additional details, results and points, visit the official MotoGP site here.
