MT-03: Yamaha's Roadster Motard Concept

MT-03: Yamaha's Roadster Motard Concept

By Dirck Edge

Remember the MT-01? Well, Yamaha caused quite a stir when they introduced that concept naked bike powered by a Road Star v-twin several years ago. Now, Yamaha has introduced another concept it calls the MT-03 . . . powered by a single.

The MT-03 is, according to Yamaha a "Roadster Motard", "because it stands for sex appeal, a very determined and aggressive design combined with a high quality technical spec . . . [and] it says something about riding sensations, about the extreme agility when riding in low speed range."

What ever you call it, it is different. The shock absorber adjacent to the engine is reminiscent of the MT-01, while the belt drive reminds us of BMW's recent 650 single, the F650CS.

Take a look at Yamaha's web site discussing the MT-03 concept here.
