Honda's MotoGP rider Nicky Hayden is reportedly racing the SuperMoto competition at the X Games this weekend in Los Angeles, California. It is certainly a testament to the popularity of the X Games, and the marketing power of a factory's association with the X Games, that Nicky Hayden would risk injury in a SuperMoto competition smack dab in the middle of the 2008 MotoGP series.
Almost as a side note, I saw Nicky Hayden race a parking lot supermoto in Los Angeles several years ago. He destroyed everyone, and did some rather amazing things on a Honda CRF450R . . . the same type of bike he will race this weekend. Can Nicky beat the full time supermoto racers at their own game? I'm thinking, yeah, he probably can.
