Honda announced the production and delivery in Spring of 2001 of the 2002 VTX power cruiser, featuring an 1800cc v-twin engine. This is not a misprint — the engine displaces 1800cc. Pictures of the VTX prototype shown here reveal, for Honda, bold and aggressive styling. Honda was promising a power cruiser, and it looks like they are about to deliver.
The VTX features a liquid cooled 52 degree v-twin with three valves per cylinder and fuel injection. The five-speed transmission transfers power to the rear wheel through shaft drive, and the big bruiser (weighing 705 pounds dry) has impressive, three-piston caliper, dual 296mm disc brakes in front, with a two-piston, 316mm disc brake in back. With a compression ratio of 9.0 to 1, this bike should pack quite a wallop when leaving stop lights.
