A good weekend for Marco Bezzecchi (Aprilia) saw him gain pole position and the win in the full-length race on Sunday at Portimão. Bezzecchi also finished on the podium in Saturday’s Sprint. In the process, Bezzecchi has secured third place in the final championship standings with one race remaining.
The Sprint race was won by Alex Marquez (Ducati), with Pedro Acosta (KTM) second and Bezzecchi (third).
Sunday’s race saw Bezzecchi dominate and eventually pull a comfortable gap over second place Alex Marquez and third place Acosta.

After Mandalika I don’t understand how or why any pilot/team in MotoGP would celebrate a race win as though they had achieved it fairly.
they all know, as much as we all do, it’s more than likely that they would not be standing on the top podium had marc marquez not been relegated to a hospital bed.
One good thing though, taking out marc marquez means Rossi gets to keep one of his last remaining records for a while longer. Congrats Rossi!
It was likely that MM93 would have continued on to also win 700+ points this season too. oh well, if you can’t beat MM93 then crash him out for the season then celebrate like you actually deserve the win.
Dang! That’s some first class hero worship right there.
Part of having a long successful career is staying healthy for it. Marquez and Martin have had trouble with that. That’s racing.
hero worship huh?
is that a good or bad thing?
depends on if it’s Rossi or MM93?
is anyone watching MotoGP since MM93’s season ended?
hard to stay healthy when one is purposefully crashed out of race contention for the season, no?
in your expert opinion and feel free to make use of the stats for 2025, would MM93 not have broken 700 points in 2025?
unless i’ve missed something, has anyone ever broken 700+ points in MotoGP?
hero worship…yep anyone can easily say anything.
has Rossi ever broken 600+ points, 500+ points, or even 400+ points?
Why not? They race against who shows up. Crashing out is a loss. By doing so Marquez lost the opportunity to fight for wins for Ducati.
You think someone crashed him out intentionally? C’mon, This isn’t NASCAR…
you must have missed the race that ended MM93’s 2025 season.
MM93 did not fall off his bike and by doing so lost the opportunity to fight for wins for Ducati.
*even if that had happened MM still would be the odds on favorite for the double wins, just like he was for the entire 2025 season, for the remaining season.
MM93’s season ending crash was 100% caused by Bezzi driving his bike at high speed directly into MM93 and his bike, from behind.
so…MotoGP is not a fast paced, glory and fame seeking, high $$$ motorsport? It is not considered to be one of the top ranked motorsports organizations in the world and is one of the largest spectator sports leagues in the world? C’mon.
No. It is not plausible that Bez intentionally rode into the back of MM crash him. No rider would take that risk with their own safety, never mind that of the victim.
I cited NASCAR because those drivers are protected inside a strong steel cage and openly admit to crashing each other on purpose, without being banned from the sport. I believe that last part is because it is a big part of why its fans watch, similar to fist-fights in hockey (just watch boxing already…).
i’m not Bezz…We can’t know what was running through his mind at the time but I’d wager most would agree, including him, that he was running way too hot, trying to make up a for a lousy start, when he collided ‘into the back of’ MM93 (and not ‘with’ MM93…it was not a mutually fault incident).
whether Bezz intentionally rode MM93 of the track or not makes not one bit of difference.
Bezz crashed MM93 off the track and ended MM93’s season. Period.
the fact the Rossi’s race win record remains intact is a benefit of that day as well as every person who won/wins a pole, sprint, sunday race without having MM93 to deal with. Period.
Sure.. but you clearly believe Bez did it on purpose. That’s nonsense. They all take risks. When a rider falls early in a race, it’s more likely that someone else is ensnared in the incident. Everyone has been the crashed, most have also been the victim, including Bez.
Marquez will be back, he’ll get the records and whatever else. Loosen the tin-foil hat.
nonsense?
again, I watched the race.
again, MM93 did not simply fall down off his widdle bike bike and hurt him widdle self.
I looked again just to be sure and I did not see anyone else on Bezz’z bike with Bezz just before the crash so surely no one else was at the controls of Bezz’s bike. I’m nearly certain Bezz’s bike is not controlled remotely unless you think it could have been.
Bezz chose to bring the bike up to the speed it was at, which no one else on the track was travelling, including the other fastest and best riders in the sport, for obvious reasons, and also chose to be on the same line behind MM93 while clearly travelling at a much greater speed than MM93. Bezz chose both the collision course and speed!!!
Bezz, himself, made all of those choices which led to the crash. BEZZ DID IT ON PURPOSE!!! PERIOD.
the results of the crash meant the end of MM93’s season and his opportunities to secure more records AND meant that the rest of the grid now had a more likely chance to secure race wins. all good for the rest of the grid…all bad for MM93.
any argument that Bezz couldn’t have known for sure that MM93 would sustain a season ending injury means that Bezz’s actions couldn’t have been willfull are absurd.
Bezz also couldn’t know that his actions WOULD NOT cause a season ending injury to all parties involved.
Doing what Bezz CHOSE TO DO caused exactly what it did…MM93 out for the season and Bezz free of MM93 for the remaining races of the season.
the ratio of race wins to races entered for Bezz seems to have improved greatly since MM93’s abrupt departure, no?
just a strange coincidence then?
also, what exactly does “Loosen the tin-foil hat” mean?
Oh please. One could just as easily say that Marquez is suffering the consequences of brake checking Bezzecchi too hard. Lord knows he has a long history of questionable on trck behavior. People don’t run into you hard if you don’t slow down really hard.
Given all of Marquez’ past behavior I’d say that Karma took him out. I’ve made it no secret that I think he should have been banned long ago.
Oh please!?
-People don’t run into you hard if you don’t slow down really hard.
-One could just as easily say that Marquez is suffering the consequences of brake checking Bezzecchi too hard.
very astute observations.
indeed. one could easily say anything when one has no idea about anything.
However, as you say, most should realize that when a top rider, during a race, is on any section of a race track travelling as fast and allowable as possible, that rider MOST CERTAINLY should not expect to be hit from behind from another rider.
maybe watch a race before commenting sometimes
MM93 banned!?
really? so, why was the MM93 never banned from MotoGP then?
MM93’s past behavior? how many accidents did MM93 cause for others in 2024 and 2025 when MM93 wasn’t trying to ride a POS bike to a podium?
maybe the Honda should have been banned?
You don’t understand. You made up some wild conspiracy. So I made up an alternative wild conspiracy because why not? If you’re going to make something up. You might want to make up something that is easier to believe. Bezzechi rides clean. He doesn’t have any history of deliberately making contact with other riders. Marquez clearly does have a long history of making deliberate contact with other riders.
So really, who’s crazy story is more believable? Bezzecchi running into Marquez because reasons? Or Marquez brake checking an emerging threat? Both stories are equally ridiculous. I didn’t come here and try to get people to believe mine. I just made mine up to show you how silly yours is.
Dail accident was like Senna accident. Yet…
italian guy riding an italian bike, wearing italian leathers/helmet, sponsored by an italian company, winning races. LIVING THE DREAM. i cannot say i would rather win the superbowl/world series/olympic gold.
