Aragon MotoGP Results

Dani Pedrosa (Honda) stormed to victory at the Aragon circuit earlier today to close slightly his points’ deficit to Jorge Lorenzo (Yamaha), who finished second.  Andrea Dovizioso (Yamaha) finished third.

American Nicky Hayden (Ducati) had a nasty crash when he went off track and couldn’t slow before hitting a tire wall.  He was thrown over the wall onto a road, but apparently was not seriously injured.

Glad that Hayden is alright. Scary (and and rather bizarre) crash he had.

  2. craig says:

Lorenzo was taken out by another rider earlier in the year, and pedrosa was taken out last race(karma for taking out Hayden, his TEAMATE in 2006 when Hayden was leading the Championship).

pedrosa just isn’t a Champion, never will be. The only reason he is 2nd in the points is because Stoner is injured and Rossi is on the lame duck Ducati.

let it go. you sound foolish continuing to “parrot” what you’ve heard others say here 6 years later. many other incidents have occured between now and then. the most important occured at valencia that VERY NEXT ROUND. anybody who’s actually been paying attention all this time would know that.

Dani showed em how it’s done today. Flat walked away from Lorenzo. Wonder how this championship would have turned out without last race’s drama. Nasty looking flip for Hayden. Hope he’s ok. Crutchlow, Dovi and Spies has a great battle, looked very evely matched. When will Dorna recognize what a joke the CRTs are?

    • Dave says:

CRT is no joke, they’re just down on HP and development time. Karel Arbrham had his hands full with a couple of them, even with a significant top speed advantage. Dorna will likely have to change the whole class to CRT or something like it. There are only ~10 factory bikes out there, nobody wants to play at that price. Today, WSBK is eating Moto GP’s lunch in almost every way. GP will die off if big changes don’t happen soon.

      • chaz says:

Dorna is trying to get Kawasaki, Suzuki, Aprilia, and BMW interested in participating. I could see BMW being interested, but with Dorna’s constantly changing the rules, none of the potential teams want to develop a bike that is obsolete before it can be raced.

    • Tim says:

Actually, I believe Lorenzo just played it smart and rode not to crash. With his points lead he didn’t need to win, he just needed to stay upright. These Hondas are fast though, no doubt about that.

      • John says:

I think Tim’s got it right, Lorenzo would have been crazy to risk binning it and losing points.

As for Craig’s comment above, Pedrosa is a tough rider and I think he has a strong chance of winning the title within the next 3 years with Stoner retiring. The only current rider who can match Pedrosa is Lorenzo. Rossi should get a few podium finishes in the next couple of years on the Yamaha but he won’t win the title again.
