2000 CBR929RR |
Honda released more details, and a much better photograph, of its 2000 CBR929RR sport bike this morning. Honda’s own information is inconsistent, so bear with us. We’ll post clarifying information later.
At least we have a clear photograph of the new bike (above). The inconsistency concerns the weight of the new 900RR – it is described as 350 pounds at one point, and 374 pounds “dry” at another. In any event, the new 929RR is extremely light, and very powerful.
On the subject of power, Honda indicates the bike produces “over 160 horsepower per liter”, offering “the best power to weight ratio of any production motorcycle ever.” This indicates that the 929RR would produce approximately 150 horsepower at the crank (if it is 929cc), slightly more than either Yamaha’s R1 or Kawasaki’s ZX9, while weighing less than either competitor.
The 929RR is fuel injected, following the lead of other Honda street bikes, including the VFR800 and the CBR1100XX.
MD will post additional details on this Honda engineering marvel as soon as they are available.
