CYPRESS, Calif., October 12, 2000 -For the 2001 AMA season Yamaha Motor
Corp., USA will field a two-rider team consisting of newly signed Anthony
Gobert and returning rider Tommy Hayden. Both will race the Yamaha YZF R7
in Superbike as well as the sharpened new Yamaha YZF R6 in 600cc Supersport.“I’m looking forward to building a future with Yamaha,” said Gobert. “And
I’m really excited to race the R6 in the 600 class.” Gobert recently raced
a Team Virgin Yamaha R7 with good results in several British Superbike
events and is scheduled to race the bike during the final World Superbike
round.Tommy Hayden rejoins Team Yamaha for 2001. “It’s great to be with Yamaha
again this year,” said Hayden. “I plan to build on last year’s consistent
results with wins and hopefully a championship.” Regarding teammate Gobert
he added, “With Anthony on the team, it should be an exciting season.”According to Larry Griffis, Yamaha Motorsports Racing Division Manager,
“We’re glad to have Tommy back and we welcome Anthony to the team–there’s
sure to be some great races this year.”
