Casey Stoner (Honda) won yet again today at Indianapolis Motor Speedway after passing both defending champ Jorge Lorenzo (Yamaha) and teammate Dani Pedrosa early in the race. Stoner built a comfortable margin and cruised to the win ahead of Pedrosa in second place and Ben Spies (Yamaha) in third. Spies overcame a terrible start, and was the fastest man on the track when he took the final podium spot from his teammate Lorenzo near the end of the race.

Wow, Ben has got to practice his starts or something. That was truly painful to watch. Starting in second only to slip back to ninth before turn 3? Man, bad news. Let’s get it together Ben!
Otherwise he was great. Stoner is a man on fire right now. I think he’s pretty much untouchable. He certainly seems to have something to prove, a chip on his shoulder, an air of superiority. I don’t like that attitude, but he’s certainly earned it.
Thank God we don’t have to endure all of Lorenzo’s posturing like we did last year. Spies will eventually prove to be the better, faster and certainly classier of the two. Stoner is at a level beyond everyone else right now and the championship is his to lose.
Ahhh, i miss the flair of his actions. At least he and Rossi could put on a show off of the bike. All the other guys are too damn robotic.
Very disappointed at Rossi’s and Nicky’s performance yesterday, Ducatis just looked bad at the race, Rossi missed turn 1 twice!! although I think he can develop the bike, it is going to take him a couple of years. Look at Spies and Lorenzo enjoying what Rossi developed for Yamaha…
Those were false-neutrals, which is a very unusual problem at this level. Handling problems aside, when the bike jumps out of gear when entering a corner……straight is often the only choice you’ve got.
Rossi had gearbox problems throughout the race. It kept getting stuck in neutral. Amazing he did as well as he did.
Hayden appeared to make a very immature mistake; choose a less hard front tire and try to push it as hard as possible in the first couple of laps….And while we’re ducati bashing…what on earth with Rossi? 14th in qualifying and what ever place he ended up at the finish?
Stoner has the best bike and he’s the best rider out there right now. That’a a pretty tough combo to beat. I was pretty disappointed with Lorenzo yesterday. I know the bike wasn’t working great, but it looked to me like he wasn’t pushing very hard either.
i believe ‘renzo said his front tire was toast after 5 laps. while many others (like casey’s) were basically fine at race end. they had set-up issue ’caused by the new surface and weren’t able to sort it by sunday. plus bridgestone apparently didn’t send the proper spec hard compound tires everybody had asked for prior to going to indy. even casey wasn’t amused, but fortunately the 212’s adapted the best.
Stoner is on rails!
