The MotoGP championship series visited the iconic Misano circuit last weekend. This is the first race weekend in a while where a rider not named Marc Márquez was the star of the show (although Marc did win Sunday’s race – more below).
Aprilia’s Marco Bezzecchi took pole position on Saturday morning and proceeded to win the Sprint race that same afternoon after Marc Márquez (Ducati) crashed out of the race. Bezzecchi was joined by Alex Márquez (Ducati) in second and Fabio Di Giannantonio (Ducati) in third on the Sprint podium.
Sunday’s main event saw Bezzecchi take the holeshot and lead much of the race before a mistake allowed Marc Márquez past. These two riders distanced the field (putting nearly 8 seconds into Alex Márquez in third place). Although Bezzecchi stayed close and finished just half a second behind Marc, he had to settle for second place behind the championship points leader. Alex Márquez finished third.
The riders take a week off before heading to the next round in Japan. For full results and points for Saturday’s Sprint race, visit the MotoGP site here. For full results and points for Sunday’s MotoGP race, visit the MotoGP site here.

What’s with the leg?
And how come he’s still standing upright?
New nickname. Eileen.
The leg is in reference to a 1980’s Italian movie Three Men and a Leg (1997), a comedy where three men cross Italy to deliver a wooden leg to their boss.
It was Bezz’s favorite movie as a kid and its easily recognizable to Italians as the USA’s Christmas Story movie with Ralphy’s dad major award leg lamp. If you search for it on YT you can watch it.
OK 1997 movie 🙂
Thank you for the explanation.
At least it’s not the actual trophy.
Or is it?
Nice touch to have his sponsors boot on it. Gotta be worth a few dollars, surely?
