Barros (500) and Harada (250) Win Wet Mugello GP

Under wet conditions, Alex Barros (Honda) won the 500 GP at Mugello today, ahead of teammate Loris Capirossi and the Yamaha of Max Biaggi. Several prominent riders crashed out of the slippery event, including championship leader Valentino Rossi (Honda) and defending champion Kenny Roberts (Suzuki).

The 250cc podium was filled with Aprilias, with Tetsuya Harada in first followed by Roberto Rolfo and Marco Melandri. Championship leader, and winner of each of the previous rounds, Daijiro Katoh (Honda) struggled in the wet conditions and finished tenth.
