MD has confirmed the rumor that Jeff Emig was fired by Kawasaki Motors Corp., U.S.A. on Thursday, August 26, 1999.
A Kawasaki representative, Sheryl Bussard, stated that no other information, other than Kawasaki’s formal press release would be given at this time. Kawasaki’s press release reads as follows:
“August 27, 1999
A recent incident involving Kawasaki motocross racer Jeff Emig has prompted the company to immediately terminate the contract between the two parties.
The company regrets that its relationship with Jeff must end on this note.”
It is interesting to note that any reference to Jeff Emig has been surgically removed from Kawasaki’s web site.
MD is saddened to hear of this sudden turn of events, as Jeff has given us many years of fine riding. We hope that he works through this unfortunate time and comes out, once again, on top. MD will keep you informed of any details as we uncover them.
