What’s the greatest weekend of supercross racing outside the AMA Supercross series? It is the three days of racing at the Paris Bercy event — culminating with the crowns “King of Bercy” for the 250 champion and “Prince of Bercy” for the 125 champion.
Arguably the world’s two best supercross racers, Jeremy McGrath and David Vuillemin (both mounted on Yamahas) are competing this weekend at Bercy in the 250 class. Reports indicate that, on the opening night (tonight) Vuillemin beat McGrath in the first two 250 main events — even pulling away from McGrath when they achieved similar starting positions at the end of the first lap in one of the events. We’ll have more details as this weekend unfolds, but this may be an interesting preview of the AMA Supercross series (where Kawasaki’s Ricky Carmichael will likely make his presence known as well).
By the way, McGrath crashed at the opening round of the World Supercross series last weekend in Paris — handing Vuillemin victory. This weekend will be the real test for these two warriors.
