Nicky Hayden changed the set-up on his Honda RC51 superbike for the second half of the Yamaha Superbike Challenge held today in Fontana, California. The result was a decisive victory over Eric Bostrom (Kawasaki) and Mat Mladin (Suzuki). Interestingly, the fastest rider on the track may have been Doug Chandler (Ducati), who closed a huge gap on the Bostrom/Mladin battle for second with three laps remaining, but a red flag caused by a crash ended the race before Chandler could take a well-deserved podium position.
In the 600 Supersport race, Aaron Yates (Suzuki) took a comfortable victory over Anthony Gobert (Yamaha), while Tommy Hayden (Kawasaki) finished third. For complete results and current points, take a look at AMA Pro Racing’s Fontana Results page here.
The latest word on Kurtis Roberts’ condition is that his ankle is sprained (not a serious problem), but he may have ACL damage in his knee, which could require surgery and significant time to heal.
