Here is a trivia question for you. Three riders won main events during the AMA 250cc Supercross series in 2003. Ricky Carmichael and Chad Reed are two of those riders, but who is the third? That would be Ezra Lusk, who won the Phoenix round aboard his factory Kawasaki KX250.
Unfortunately for “Yogi”, that would be the highlight of an otherwise disappointing year. Perhaps, a change in machinery is what he needs for 2004, and he will get it from his new team, Mach 1 Motorsports Yamaha.
Given Lusk’s status, he is likely aboard a full factory YZ250, despite being on a privateer team. Lusk has always had great speed indoors, and he was one of the first riders to challenge Jeremy McGrath’s dominance in supercross (in the late ’90s). A hard working and determined rider, we hope Ezra finds the consistency this year to go along with his speed.
