In the latest news regarding what is quickly becoming one of the most anticipated races of the year, ESPN’s X Games press office reports that Nicky Hayden has declined an invitation to race the X Games 10 Supermoto X Event (scheduled for Sunday, August 8 in Los Angeles, CA). Although this is dissapointing news for fans who hoped to see the young American MotoGP racer compete against a star-studded Supermoto lineup, the dissapointment is offset by the news that MXers Chad Reed (Yamaha) and Ricky Carmichael (Honda) are planning to participate in the race.
Reed and Carmichael will be competing against a field which includes former and current MX stars (Jeremy McGrath, Jeff Ward, Doug Henry, Grant Langston), freestyle MX riders (Mike Metzger, Kenny Bartram, Brian Deegan), road racers (Aaron Yates, Kurtis Roberts), Supermoto specialists both foreign (Stephane Chambone, Jurgen Kuenzel, Eddy Seel, Thierry van den Bosch) and domestic (Ben Carlson, Steve Drew, Chris Fillmore), and of course Travis Pastrana, who defies any attempt to categorize him. This should be interesting.
