Maybe it is a bit early to be talking about the 2006 MotoGP championship, but Valentino Rossi’s contract with Yamaha expires this year, and his future is always of interest.
Does Honda want Rossi back? You would have to think they are crazy if they do not. One has to wonder if the circumstances that lead Rossi to leave Honda in the first place will have changed. Only Rossi and Honda can figure that out.
Rossi and Yamaha seem like a good fit. At a smaller factory with fewer riders, Rossi can get the attention he craves and deserves. Leaving money aside, given the fact that Yamaha has built a competitive bike (a winning bike, not just a competitive bike), Rossi would seem to have no reason to leave Yamaha. Nevertheless, expect “Rossi rumors” to dominate the last half of the MotoGP series this year.
