Serious motocross fans who frequent the web’s hardcore motocross sites and message boards have probably already heard this news, but as longtime Fonseca fans we felt it was our responsibility to share it with all of our readers.
Ernesto Fonseca suffered a serious crash yesterday while riding at a practice track in Menifee, California – according to reports we have seen, Fonseca landed on his head, fracturing his C7 vertebrae and bruising (although luckily not severing) his spinal cord.
Ernesto is reported to be able to move both arms, but has no feeling in either leg. He was apparently put in a halo last night, and may be undergoing (or already has undergone) surgery today.
I can say from personal experience that Fonseca is one of the warmest, friendliest, and most upbeat MX/SX racers that I have had the pleasure to meet. All of us here at MD are pulling for him, and we hope our readers are as well – pulling for a full and complete recovery.
