Round 8 of the AMA Motocross championship series was an exciting one. In the Motocross class, James Stewart (Kawasaki) and Ricky Carmichael (Suzuki) traded moto wins, with Stewart (2/1) taking the overall victory ahead of Carmichael (1/2) by virtue of winning the second moto. Finishing third in both motos, and third overall, was Yamaha’s Chad Reed. Carmichael continues to enjoy a massive points lead in the championship series.
In the Lites division, points leader Ryan Villopoto (Kawasaki) had a mechanical DNF in the first moto — taking no points. At the end of the day, Villopoto fell behind Mike Alessi (KTM) in the championship series points as a result of the first moto. Taking the overall win in the Lites division was Andrew Short (Honda; 1/1) ahead of Joshua Grant (Honda; 2/3) and Alessi (3/4).
