A Suzuki press release indicates John Hopkins, along with teammate Chris Vermeulen, will race in the opening round of the MotoGP series in Qatar this weekend. You will recall that Hopkins was injured following a very high speed crash while testing a few weeks ago forcing him to miss the final MotoGP test at Jerez.
What is missing from Suzuki’s press release is a direct comment on the condition of the wrist that was injured by Hopkins, forcing him to miss the Jerez test session. Hopkins is a tough guy, and he has ridden injured before. We should have some indication following Qatar qualifying whether Hopkins is any where near 100%, but Suzuki’s lack of comment on Hopkin’s wrist could mean it is more serious than a simple sprain.
