A dry race in Motegi, Japan resulted in excitement for fans as a three-way battle for the lead quickly developed. In the end, Yamaha’s Jorge Lorenzo, after passing teammate Valentino Rossi, crossed the line first. While running behind Lorenzo, Rossi battled closely with a surprising Dani Pedrosa (Honda), who made a remarkable start from well back on the grid. Rossi earned second place with Pedrosa finishing third. Lorenzo takes the points lead in the championship after two rounds.
