Michael Dunlop Looks Ready to Defend Several Isle of Man TT Titles

Still following in the footsteps of his famous Uncle Joey, young Michael Dunlop looks ready to add to his 7 Isle of Man TT championships (including 4 last year) as he set the fastest lap during practice for the multi-day event beginning tomorrow. Dunlop recorded a blistering 131.501 mph average during a practice lap aboard his BMW S 1000 RR superbike. This lap time was just 1.3 seconds outside the outright lap record. The Superbike event is tomorrow.

Watch MD’s Industry Press Releases section for all the latest results. In the meantime, hop over to this release from Dunlop’s BMW Motorrad / Hawk Racing Team. Also, here is a link to the official Isle of Man TT website, which has continually updated coverage.

If you have Velocity channel on cable or dish, Isle of Mann coverage starts tonight. And it looks like it is on every night for a week.

    246 on Dishnetwork.

  2. todder says:

Been doing my best to follow the action on internet radio at work. I really need to experience the TT at least once.

Do they clear the island of dogs, goats, and other pesky varmints that could really ruin one’s day during these races?

  4. Nick Castro says:

I would like to wish everyone a safe race.
It would be great to see Guy Martin win one.

  5. Scotty says:

He admitted it was a risk to go to the BMW, but it seems to be paying off.

You must go at least once Bob – I went in 2000 and the memories of the 10 days spent on the Island will live with me forever.

  6. Bob L. says:

The I.O.M. has been on my bucket list for years. Wish I were there now!
Dunlop (and most of those riders) are simply fearless!
The coverage last year was best ever – looking forward to it.
